Le Marché aux Fleurs

I love Saturday mornings in Aix. The streets are alive with people and all of our markets are bustling. I never tire of the markets. The explosion of colors and smells and people draws me at least once each week and Saturday is my favorite.

So I've decided to treat you to some of our markets for the next few Saturdays.  Because I'm working on my "garden" this week, I think we'll visit the flower market.
This riot of color is splashed all over the Place de Marie each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Today the scent of jasmine and thyme was especially delicious.

As I wandered, I was wishing for the sun. It didn't honor me with its presence...but it honored me with its gifts.

Next week, for a total olfactory turn around, we'll visit the fish market!

 Bon Week-end!

  1. Your market looks better than ours. Ours is scattered over many side streets and it a sprawling affair when you have to play Hunt the Stall.

  2. I am totally in love with your photos. It's one of the things that I am looking forward to once we move to France. I've visited markets in Coustellet (45 mins east of Avignon) and it's such a wonderful experience. Thanks for your photos!

  4. FF, yes our markets really are lovely. And we have several....3 or 4 depending on the day. Once in awhile these guys switch places though and then I have to play hunt the stall also. Very inconvenient! :)
Tanya, thank you. You are in for such an exciting time.
2b2, Aix in pronounced like ex. And WHERE are you that the ranunculus are blooming? That is one of my all time favorite flowers and I'd love to see it growing like that!

  5. Beautiful pictures!

It's almost spring here (in Montreal) and looking at your pictures has inspired me to add even more colour to my garden this year.

  8. Ahhh...the French markets. I applaud you moving to France at 50! I'd love to do the same thing...perhaps someday. Hope you find the perfect sweet potatoes for your African stew!
